The Pirates of Penzance
(Broadway Version)
The Story
Frederick, as a child, was meant to be a 'pilot', in the maritime sense. Unfortunately, by mistake (as Ruth's hearing wasn't that good) he was sent to be a 'pirate' instead! Apprenticed until his 21st birthday, he discovers that having been born on the 29th February, he is only '5 and a little bit over!' His apprenticeship will not end for another 63 years. And so the story unfolds, as his life and career move forwards...
