Oliver
The Story
Charles Dickens' classic tale of Oliver Twist is brought to the stage with unforgettable songs of Lionel Bart.
Young Oliver is orphaned and finds himself in the workhouse run by Mr Bumble and widow Corney. When he utters the unthinkable words "Please Sir, I want some more after finishing his bowl of gruel he is swiftly dispatched from the workhouse to the funeral parlour of the Sowerberrys to act as a coffin follower. His stay there is short lived, however, and he runs away to London where he meets the Artful Dodger, an expert pickpocket who along with other boys is under the control of Fagin.
His life of petty thieving brings him in to contact with the villainous Bill Sikes and Sikes' long - suffering girlfriend Nancy. It is Nancy who takes pity on Oliver and with dire consequences for herself helps Oliver discover his true destiny in surroundings far removed from the influence of Fagin.
