Southey Sang for Meersbrook!

September 24th 2005: 7:30 p.m. at Dore and Totley United Reform Church

They say charity begins at home, but on the 24th of September charity began in S5, travelled to S17, and helped out S8, because 'Dore and Totley' URC  hosted a concert performed by ‘Southey Musical Theatre Company’, to help raise money for the rebuilding of ‘Meersbrook’ URC on Chesterfield Road.  Pictured are Andy Hibbert and Leigh Mason (Captain of Meersbrook URC  and ex Sunday School Queen from many years ago) both of whom are members of Southey Musical Theatre Company,  joined in the celebrations.
The current church building has been condemned, but plans to build a new church on the site of the original building are well under way, and as the project will cost in excess of £175,000 a massive fundraising effort is taking place. A spokesperson from Southey MTC said 'this was our chance to contribute to a very worthy cause by doing what we do best'. The concert was  performed at the Dore and Totley United Reform Church, Totley Brook Road. The event raised a total of £720.00 towards the fundraising, and we would like to thank everybody who contributed to this worthy cause.
